CHITTAGONG: State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku warned that none would be allowed to trigger turmoil in any sectors, including garment industry, in their bid to save the war criminals.

“Evil forces are becoming active after the beginning of the trial process of war criminals,” he said at a meeting on law and order at Chittagong Circuit House Friday.

The minister also said, “The International Crimes Tribunal is taking legal action against war criminals. But no quarter would be allowed to create anarchy for protecting those who committed crime against humanity in ’71. They can also face the situation legally by appointing legal experts.”

He also suggested law enforces to remain alert as the trial has now begun.

Chittagong divisional DIG Asaduzzaman Mia, Deputy Commissioner Foyez Ahmed, Police Super AZM Morshed, RAB’s regional head Lt Col Sajjad Hossain and high officials of BDR and Ansar-BDP attended the meeting.

Regarding modernization of the police Tuku said the government has decided to recruit 32,000 police personnel. Of them, 13,000 would be recruited within this year.

Laying emphasis on anti-drug drive, the state minister warned, “The government is already taking stern position against narcotics, militancy and terrorism.”
