8 reported dead on Eid day

DHAKA: At least eight people including a woman were reported dead in separated incidents including road crash and electrocution at the country’s different parts on Monday, the day of Eid-ul-Azha.

Banglanews Correspondents reported from the areas.

Our Special Correspondent from Chittagong reports, a housewife was electrocuted at her house in Golichipa Para area under Halishahar Thana of the port city at 8:00am.

Police confirmed the matter to banglanews.

In another incident in Bayazid Bostami Thana, an around 30-year old unidentified male passenger was killed and the rickshaw puller injured as a speedy bus from Hathazari ran over the rickshaw in Ternary Bottal area around 5:00pm.

Bayazid Bostami Thana Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajib Kanti Dey told banglanews that they could not identify the body as his face and head were badly damaged.

The body was taken to the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) morgue for autopsy.

A correspondent from Savar added, a man died when a running bus hit him while crossing Dhaka-Aricha highway in Genda area in Savar upazila of Dhaka district in the morning. 

Two others were also injured in another road crash at Thana Stand area of Saver at the same time. They are undergoing treatment at a local clinic.

Our Sunanganj Correspondent reported, a man aged about 35 was founded dead in Chorchowla area under Chatak upazila of the district.

On information, police recovered the body 8:00am and sent it to the district Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Our Madaripur Correspondent reported, an alleged extremist was killed by angry mobs in Madra area of Sadar upazila in the district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Mazed Mollah, 35, resident of West Madra of the upazila.

Sadar Thana sub-inspector Masud Khan said to banglanews that the mobs in the morning beat Mazed indiscriminately suspecting that he had connection to the murder of a young man, Azizul, on September 13.

Later, Mazed was taken to the Madaripur Sadar Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries.

Our Staff Correspondent in Dhaka reported, police recovered body of an unidentified girl from a launch named Saykat-2 from Sadarghat in city on Monday.

Keraniganj Thana Sub-inspector (SI) Mukul Ranjan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The SI said being informed police recovered the body from the launch around 11:00am.

They initially suspecting that she was strangulated to death, he added.

The body has been sent to the Mitford Hospital morgue for autopsy, reports banglanews.

In another incident in Tejgaon Thana, a man was killed and three others injured in a head-on-collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto rickshaw in Nabisco Love Road area in city.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. 

Sources said that a bus hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw in the around 3:30pm and the cylinder of the auto rickshaw exploded, leaving four people on board injured.

Later, the injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where an unidentified woman died around 4:00pm.

Tejgaon Thana Officer-in-Charge Salauddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Our Sunamganj Correspondent reports, a man was killed and four others injured in a clash between two groups in Dinertuk village of Doarabazar upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Bashiruddin, 30, son of Iman Ali of the village.

Police detained four people in this connection.

The two groups locked into a clash over a trifle matter in the area around 1:00pm, leaving Bashiruddin critically injured.

Locals rushed him to MAG Osmani Medical College in Sylhet where he succumbed to his injuries.

Doarabazar Thana Officer-in-charge Sharif Newaz confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Monday is the day of the largest religious festival of Islam Eid-ul-Azha. Muslims are celebrating the Eid across the country with due solemnity, rituals and festive mood.
