DHAKA: Dhaka City Corporations, both north and south, have started the removal of the wastes of sacrificial animals of Eid-ul-Azha on Monday.
The authorities have started the task with additional waste carrying vehicles and antiseptic medicines from morning to remove some 44 tons waste.
Following the cleaning task, Dhaka north and south started announcing by mikes and distributed leaflets to create awareness among city dwellers to keep the city clean.
Earlier, the corporations cancelled Eid holidays of all officials and employees of its health and waste management department and recruited additional workers for the job.
DCC south chief waste management officer Raqib Uddin Bhuiyan told banglanews that the authorities will distribute environmental friendly polyethylene bags to city dwellers and then city corporation workers will collect those waste packed bags from dustbins and containers.
DCC north chief waste management officer Captain Bipin Kumar Saha said that sufficient numbers of waste carrying vans are running in city to remove the wastes from roadsides.
