DHAKA: A schoolgirl was killed as she fell from a battery-run auto rickshaw when her scarf got tangled up with one of the wheels in Bawkhand area of Dhamrai upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Jharna Akhter, 10, a class IV student and daughter of Hanif Miah of Ghior area of Saturia upazila of Manikganj.

Deceased’s neighbor Anwar Hossain told banglanews that Jharna was critically injured as she fell from the auto rickshaw as her scarf got stuck with the wheel in the area around 1:45pm.

She was whisked off to the Saturia Upazila Health Complex but left her breath on the way.
