DHAKA: Hundreds of people thronged Central Shaheed Minar to pay their last tribute to Language Movement veteran Abdul Matin, Thursday ignoring rain.

As his body was brought at the Shaheed Minar on an ambulance several minutes after 12::00pm, people from all walks of life lined up to pay tribute with flowers. All wore black badges, carried black banners to mourn Matin’s death.

Rain began that lasted awhile but everyone paid tributes ignoring it.

Matin, widely honored as ‘Bhasha Matin’, had passed away on Wednesday morning at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University at the age of 88.
