DHAKA: Former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Ghulam Azam, who is serving 90-year imprisonment for war crimes, has been shifted to the coronary care unit (CCU) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in city on Friday.
Sources told banglanews that he was taken to the CCU from BSMMU Prison Cell in the morning after he complained of physical problem.
But, later, doctor informed that he is now out of danger, sources added.
Ghulam Azam, who was also the chief (ameer) of East Pakistan Jamaat-e-Islami during the Liberation War in 1971, was the chief of Bangladesh Jamaat between 1991 and 2000.
International Crimes Tribunal-1 sentenced him to 90 years in prison on July 15 last year for masterminding crimes against humanity, genocide and other wartime offences in 1971.
