10 Bangladeshi hajjis die in KSA

DHAKA: Ten Bangladeshis, who performed the holy hajj this year and were supposed to return home by this month, died in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) between Tuesday and Thursday.

However, with them, the pilgrims’ death toll now reached to 58.

Earlier, 48 Bangladeshi pilgrims died there before the hajj day.

According to the Bangladesh religious affairs ministry, the deceased include 49 men and nine women. Of them, 34 breathed their lasts in Makkah, 13 in Madina and 11 in Jeddah.

Of the deceased, Mohammad Sahidula Dewan, 70, who hailed from Munshiganj, Mohammad Kadir Miah, 66, hailed from Dhaka, and Danaz Uddin, 64, hailed from Gazipur, passed away on Thursday.

Earlier, five hajjis breathed their last on Wednesday.

They were -- Mohammad Abdul Quayum, 63, hailed from Bogra, Sona Ban, 77, hailed from Dhaka, Mohammad Nurul Islam, 64, hailed from Dhaka, Mohammad Rahmat Ali Bapari, 83, hailed from Kurigram and Sefar Uddin Howlader, 64, hailed from Bagerhat.

Among others, Mohammad Sirajul Islam, 64, hailed from Chapai Nawabganj and Mohammad Abdul Jalil, 64, hailed from Jamalpur, both died on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, 48 more Bangladeshi pilgrims died earlier.

According to the Makkah hajj mission, the deceased are expected to be buried in Saudi Arabia.

However, this year, a total of 98,683 pilgrims from Bangladesh have got KSA visa to perform the holy hajj.

On the other hand, hajj return-flights from Thursday started carrying back the pilgrims to the country. 419 hajjis had arrived the country on the day while more 419 are expected to reach on Friday.
