DHAKA: A Dhaka Court framed charges against BNP Standing Committee member MK Anwar under the ICT Act after holding a hearing Monday morning.

Senior Special Judge M Jahurul Haque also fixed November 23 as the deposition date in presence of the defendant MK Anwar.

On May 6, 2013, MK Anwar, in a press briefing, reacted in favour of incidents followed by the May 5 rally of Hefazat-e-Islam at Motijheel area in city.

He claimed that the news of setting fire to Holy Quran at Baitul Mokarram premise by the supporters of Hefazat-e-Islam and Jamaat-Shibir is false.

Basically, Dhaka Sourt Swechhasebak League leader Debashish and Chhatra League supporters burnt Quran, he added.

A law suit was filed against MK Anwar with Paltan Thana under the Sections 56/57 of ICT Act in this regard.

On May 28, Dhaka Senior Special Judge released MK Anwar on bail.

Earlier on August 22, Dhaka CMM Court also granted bail release to the senior BNP leader.
