DHAKA: Country’s largest mobile operator Grameenphone (GP) targets to bring all of its 5 crore customers under internet services.
GP chief corporate affairs officer Mahmud Hossain disclosed the company’s goal at cake cutting function at the Finance Ministry in the city on the day.
Mahmud said, there is a few number of mobile phone operator around the world those have 5 crores plus customers and GP is one of among them now.
Mentioning GP, presently, has some 1.5 crores internet subscribers countrywide, we are working on the challenge of reaching at 5 crores subscribers now that requires three to five years, added the GP boss.
Addressing the function, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said that GP has 5 crores subscribers out of 11 crores mobile phone users across the country and that is good news.
The minister termed it as a ‘happy opening’.
The function was arranged to mark GP’s milestone of reaching countrywide 5 crores subscribers recently. GP director (stakeholder relations, corporate affairs) Ishtiaq Hussen Chowdhury, advisor (corporate affairs) M Mizaur Rahman, among others, were present at the function.
