DHAKA: The body of the war crimes convict, also the former Jamaat-e-Islami chief, Ghulam Azam, has been taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue on early Friday.

But, whether it is to complete his autopsy or not – could not be known.

Sources told banglanews that Ghulam Azam’s body was taken there around 04:00am.

The 92-year-old former Jamaat-e-Islami chief breathed his last at 10:10pm on Thursday at city’s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

His family, however, has already requested to handover the body without autopsy.

But, according to the Jamaat linchpin’s son, Brigadier General (retd) Abdullahil Aman Azmi, it is yet to be decided when his Janaza will be held as five of his six sons are in abroad.
