DHAKA: Detective Branch Police detained four members of banned militant outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (Huji) in several drives in capital and Narayanganj early Saturday.
The detainees are-- Rafiq Ahmed alias Sadik, 36, Umor alias Foyjul alias Robi, 25, Nadim Ahmed alias Sumon, 30 and Salauddin Ahmed, 29.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Deputy Commission of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Masudur Rahman said, police detained them from Uttara, Tikatuli and Narayanganj.
Mentioning that there are bomb specialist and maker among the detainees, he added, Huji had a plan to form Bangladeshi Jihadi Group, and trigger bomb attack on influential persons and high profile dignitaries of Dhaka, Chittagong and Rajshahi.
After a briefing at Police Headquarters, Manirul Islam, Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) told journalists that 55 different explosive items including powerful explosives, sub-machine gun, detonators and bomb making materials were found with them.
