DHAKA: Police on Saturday detained some 64 leaders-activists of BNP, including the president of its youth wing Jubo Dal, on allegation of plotting to sabotage ahead of Sunday’s hartal.
On secret information, law enforcers conducted a special drive at the residence of Moazzem Hossain Alal, the president of Jubo Dal, in capital’s Lalmatia area, said Sheikh Rajibul Hasan, assistant commissioner of police of Mohammadpur Zone.
He said in the sudden drive, police picked up 64 leaders in an alleged sabotage plot ahead of Sunday’s hartal.
Later, the detainees were taken to Mohammadpur police station.
Party sources claimed that leaders-activists went to the house to meet their leader. While emerging from the house, police detained 80 of their leaders-activists, including Moazzem Hossain Alal.
