RANGAMATI: Unidentified miscreants shot dead Sushil Chakma, 32, activist of Santu Larma-led Jana Sanghati Samity (JSS), in Baghaichhari upazila on Sunday.

Quoting locals police sources said a group of armed miscreants gunned down Sushil Chakma in a local rubber garden.

Claming Sushil as their active activist, Sajeeb Chakma, joint information and publicity secretary of Santu Larma-led JSS, blamed MN Larma-led JSS for the murder.

He also demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the killers.

However, ruling out the allegation, Prasanta Chakma, spokesman for MN Larma-led JSS, said, “We don’t do politics of arms, but Santu Larma does.”

He also alleged: “Sushil Chakma was creating terror in the area and he was killed by own group as he went out of control.”

Officer-in-Charge of Baghaichhari Thana Azizul Haq said police did not find anybody on the spot.
