Bangladesh gets ITU membership again

DHAKA: Bangladesh has been reelected as member of International Telecommunications Union (ITU), a United Nations agency, for next four years.

Information and public relations officer of the communications ministry Mohammad Abu Naser confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Bangladesh got a total of 115 votes in the elections at Bushan of South Korea.

Abu Naser said some 193 members of ITU cast their votes in the election. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Ministry of Information & Communication Technology, is leading Bangladesh delegation there.

A delegation comprising more than 50 people from the government and private sectors went to the South Korean city ahead of the election.

Centering the election, Bangladesh took huge preparation and the government provided all types of cooperation to drum up support for the ITU membership.
