BARISAL: Two suspected thieves were lynched by angry mob in Sharikal village in Gaurnadi upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Rafiq and Modasser. 

The two youths entered the house of a former member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Kamrul Islam in the area. 

Meanwhile, sensing their presence, house owners started shouting and locals rushed to spot and beat them, leaving Modasser dead on the spot and Rafiq critically injured, said Gaurnadi Thana Sub-Inspector Sarowar Hossain. 

Later, the injured was rushed to Gaurnadi Upazila Health Complex where he died around 9:00am. 

Confirming the matter Gaurnadi Thana Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam said that a case would be filed in this connection.
