DHAKA: NTV and Rtv, country’s two private TV channels, halted transmissions temporarily as the fire at city’s BSEC building damaged their earth stations on Friday. 

Rtv halted its transmission at around 12:00pm while NTV at 1:00pm. 

NTV Senior Reporter Ahmed Pipul told banglanews that immediate after the fire broke out, all staff of NTV came out of the Newsroom. 

Earth station many be damaged due to the heat of fire at 11th floor of the building, he added. 

Fire service control room said the fire broke out at the top floor, where Daily Amar Desh office housed, at 11:50am. Some 20 fire fighting units doused the fire after hours-long effort.

Earlier on February 26 in 2007, fire broke out at the same building which left three killed, over 100 injured and 10 offices burnt.
