BOGRA: Eight vehicles have been vandalized on Sunday morning in Bogra’s Sherpur upazila during the hartal imposed by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

However, police detained a picketer at that time.

The detainee is identified as Rashedul Islam, 30, son of Nuru Miah, resident of Garidah union.

Sources told banglanews that Rashedul, a Jamaat activist, was held in front of Mahipur Dairy Farm on Dhaka-Bogra highway.

He was among the hartal supporters vandalizing vehicles at the area in the morning, sources added.

Confirming the matter, Sherpur Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman said that actions will be taken against them who were involved with the vandalizing.

Nevertheless, the 48-hour shutdown, beginning from 6:00am Sunday, will end on Tuesday morning.
