DHAKA: A female teenager readymade garment (RMG) worker committed suicide by taking poison after she got upset over eve-teasing in city’s Dakkhin Khan area early Sunday.

The victim was identified as Asfana Aktar Lavly alias Sathi, 17, daughter of Tofazzal Hossain Selim, hailed from Netrokona district.

Police sources said Sathi was harassed and teased by stalkers on her way back to home from work on Saturday evening.

As there was no light on the street due to nationwide power outage the harassers insulted her.

She looked very upset and broke out into tears for the incident, family members said.

They further said that Sathi took poison and raised a hue and cry at late night and fell unconscious.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Dakkhin Khan Thana Officer-in-Charge Shamir-Ar-Rashid Talukder said that, on information, police recovered the body around 10:00am.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

However, a case was filed in this connection.
