DHAKA: The lawyers of war crimes convict Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzamn were given permission to meet him on Thursday.

Advocate Gazi MH Tamin of ‘Consulta Jury Chamber’ brought the application to senior jail super of Dhaka Central Jail on Wednesday evening.

Later, Tamin said that the jail authorities gave permission to meet Kamaruzzamn during the office time on the day.

He added: “We hoped that we will meet him after 10:00am.”

Earlier, Supreme Court (SC) lawyer advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir appealed seeking permission to meet the convict.

Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand, SC lawyer Barrister Ehsan A Shiddique, Barrister Nazib Momen and Advocate Mashiul Alam are expected to meet the convicted Jamaat leader.
 
The lawyers want to meet Kamaruzzamn for some important advice on the case, the statement said.
