DHAKA: A female apparel worker and her minor daughter were killed when a train crushed them under its wheel in Khilkhet rail crossing of the city on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Rima Akhter, 24, wife of Nurul Islam, and Taslima Akhter, 05.

Mahmuda Akhter, mother of Riman, told banglanews that her daughter had accidentally fallen ground on the rail track on Wednesday afternoon while crossing and dead on the spot while her granddaughter sustained seriously injuries.

The granddaughter was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where she succumbed to her injured early hours of Thursday.

Dhaka Railway Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Abdul Majid confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The bodies were sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy, said Majid.
