DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday placed wing chief of Ansarullah Bangla Team Morshed Alam alias Masum on a five-day remand.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate M Hasibul Haque passed the order after Detective Branch (DB) police inspector Nibaran Chandra Barman produced theme before the court with 10-day remand plea.
However, Dhaka Metropolitan Police said, in a press briefing in their Media Centre, that Masum had dub the video tap of Al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri into Bangla and spread this in several areas.
He also made public relations with other militant group of the world, according to the briefing.
Police initially said that he had good contact with the leaders of the militant groups and police has been investigating the matter.
Joint Commissioner of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Monirul Islam, at the press briefing, informed that Masum who was employed at a private company obtained post graduation degree from a private university of the capital from Computer Engineer department in 2011.
Mentionable, police arrested Morshed from Kalyanpur area of the city at on Wednesday, which was confirmed by police on Thursday.
Police recovered a laptop, a cell phone of Nokia N-75, a printer, a DVD, several video CDs and books related to militancy from his possession.
Existance of the Ansarullah Bangla Team, an extremist group, came to light in the country in August last year after police arresting chief Mufti of Ansarullah Bangla Team Jasim Uddin Rahmani along with his 31 associates from Barguna.
Day after arresting Jasim, police conducted raid at his residence at Mohammadpur in the capital and recovered computer, laptop and CDs.
Police, however, submitted charge-sheet against Jasim and 10 others of the organization with an anti-terrorism case on September 16.
