DHAKA: In a bid to create more skilled workers and to enter more foreign labor markets, the government has planned to setup language teaching centers at upazila level across country.
The project has been taken to expertise the people, in foreign languages including Arabic, who want to go to abroad, sources told banglanews.
These centers will be established under the ‘Establishment of Foreign Language Training Centers Project-II’ widely known as FLTC-2 venture.
Confirming the matter, FLTC project director (PD) Mohammad Jashim Uddin told banglanews that the government is going to execute the plan soon to increase the remittances entering more foreign labor markets worldwide including Middle East.
He, while exchanging thoughts with banglanews on Saturday at his office in city’s Shikkha Bhaban, said that 64 percent of our gross remittances come from the middle east countries.
“Moreover, 81 percent of Bangladeshi expatriates working there,” he added saying: “But, most of them are not expert in Arabic.”
These expatriates, according to the FLTC PD, have to take lower salary than others only for their lacking in Arabic language.
“To let them getting rid of this injustice, the government is going to expertise the abroad-going people in foreign languages, especially in Arabic.”
The other languages, he further added, which will also be taught there at upazila foreign language training centers are English, French, Japanese and Korean.
On the other hand, the government is also going to appoint trainers of different languages along with manager at every upazila.
The secretary of the ministry of Education Nazrul Islam Khan said that they are looking for trainers having good command in above languages and they will be given lucrative salary.
