DHAKA: The Department of Environment (DoE) on Sunday fined Tk 86 lakh to authorities concerned of three dyeing and a washing factories for polluting environment in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur and Fatullah upazila of Narayanganj district.

The DoE conducted several drives in the areas and fined RL Yarn Dyeing Limited Tk 45 lakh and Rahmat Knit Dyeing and Finishing Mills Limited of Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur Tk 30 lakh.

They also fined 5S Knit Composite Mills Limited Tk 10 lakh and Majumder Washing Plant of Fatullah upazila in Narayanganj Tk 1 lakh.

The owners and their representatives confessed their guilt during the hearing.
