Expat student held with gold at Shahjalal

DHAKA: Customs intelligence on Friday detained a Malaysia-return student with 775 grams gold worth about Tk 38 lakhs from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The detainee was identified as M Farzi Rahman, 20, a fourth year student of Bachelor of Accounting at a university in Malaysia, resident of Brahmanbaria district.

Customs sources said Farzi landed at the airport on a flight from Kuala Lumpur at 12:00pm. Officials seized gold after checking Farzi on suspicion.

A Customs official preferring anonymity confirmed the matter to banglanews.
