DHAKA: The International Literary Festival Hay Festival Dhaka 2014, which has started from Thursday, has ended for the second consecutive day on Friday at the historic grounds of Bangla Academy.
More than 30 sessions run simultaneously at the different venue of the festival.
The morning sessions featured Shashi Tharoor and Namita Gokhale talking about their multiple identities and past life, while sphere of cricket were discussed with the veteran journalist Gideon Haigh.
The cosmic tent of the venue was dealing with interesting science topic throughout the day where Math Professor Marcus du Sautoy solved the mysteries of numbers with Maths Olympiad’s Munir Hossain.
In the afternoon session, Lucy Hawking interacted in discussion with popular science fiction author Muhammad Zafar Iqbal.
The most awaiting session was when Joy Goswami went in a conversation with Shamin Reza talking about personal life and poetry.
The festival will be end on Saturday with several sessions, such as, Commonwealth writers, discussion on Shakespeare celebrating his 450 years, launching of book by Ihtisham Kabir and talking about the discovery of Sylhet in his lens, and many others.
To celebrate words and ideas some of the world’s renowned writers joined at the festival including Shashi Tharoor, Jung Chang, Joy Goswami, John Ralston Saul, Zia Haider Rahman, William Dalrymple, Lucy Hawking, Patrick French, Mimi Khalvati and many others.
Bangla writers and poets include Syed Shamsul Haq, Selina Hussein, Syed Manzoorul Islam, Shaheen Akhtar, Asad Chowdhury were also present in the festival.
However, the program is open for 3 days from 8am to 8pm daily. Entry is Free and registration is not required.
