DHAKA: The forensic report of Dr Samarukh Mehjabeen Sumi, daughter-in-law of former MP Tipu Sultan, said she committed suicide.
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) authorities handed over the report to constable Humayan of Dhanmondi Thana on Sunday.
Assistant Professor Sohel Mahmud of DMCH forensic department confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He said, “Reviewing the report and testing the tissue of Sumi, we became confirmed that it was suicide.”
However, Sumi’s father Nurul Islam denied the report claiming it had been fabricated as feared earlier.
I will appeal for autopsy again, he added.
Earlier on November 13, police recovered Sumi’s body from Dhanmondi residence of the city.
The victim’s father, a retired engineer Nurul Islam, filed a murder case with Dhanmondi Thana against Humayun, his father and mother, also a physician Jasmin Akhtar, following the death.
Nurul alleged that his daughter was beaten to death. However, Tipu Sultan’s family claimed that she had committed suicide.
Mehjabeen completed MBBS degree from Holy Family Medical College, where her mother-in-law is a doctor.
