DHAKA: A minor died in a fire that broke out at Balughat Basti, a slum, in city’s Hajaribagh area on Wednesday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Sources told banglanews that the minor, approximately 18 months old, was found dead after the fire was brought under control.

Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters’ duty officer Farhad Hossain said the fire, which broke out around 3:00pm, gutted at least six houses of the shanty.

“Four units from Mohammadpur and Plassey rushed in and doused the blaze,” he added.
