DHAKA: Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested ‘Razakar’ Shamsuddin Ahmed on war crimes charges from Nandail upazila of the district on Thursday night
Shamsuddin was taken to district Sadar Thana where he would go under interrogation. District Superintendent of Police Anwar Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
On Thursday, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 issued arrest warrants against the suspected war criminals Nasir Uddin Ahmed, 62, a former army officer; and his brother Shamsuddin, 60, a member of Kishoreganj Bar Association, following an appeal from the prosecutor Khan Mushfiqur Rahman.
Nasir went into hiding since investigation into the war crimes began, according to the ICT’s Investigation Agency that deals with war crimes probes.
On Wednesday, the agency submitted formal charges against bringing five allegations against the two siblings for allegedly committing the crimes against humanity during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
