COMILLA: A 70-year old freedom fighter named Humayn Kabir was beaten to death over land dispute at Dharmapur village under Sadar Dakkhin upazila at 10:30am Monday.

The deceased’s wounded son Faisal said following a past dispute over land, their neighbors locked into altercation in the morning. At one stage, people of the rival group severely beat the elderly man.

He was rushed to a local hospital. After deteriorating his condition, he was later transferred to Comilla Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.

Sadar Dakkhin Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Prashanta Pal at 11:30am said that he will look into the matter.
