NARAYANGANJ: A district Court on Monday awarded death penalty to three persons and life time imprisonment to two others for killing a child in Fatullah.

Narayanganj district and sessions Judge Malik Abdullah Al-Amin passed the order at noon.

The death convicts are--Wasim, Sadek and Salam. Life timers are Swapan and Laki Akhter. The life timers were also fined Tk 50,000 each.

Public prosecutor (PP) of Narayanganj District Asaduzzaman and former PP Advocate Nabi Hossain said the court passed the order after taking 22 peoples’ deposition.

Earlier on June 26 in 2011, the convicts kidnapped 4-year old M Zihad from Dhormoganj Beparipara area in Fatullah Thana.

On the next day, the kidnappers threw Zihad wrapping with towel in Shitalakshya river in the evening from Narayanganj Kanchpur bridge on Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

Later, victim’s father, Akhter Hossain filed a murder case.
