DHAKA: The government has stopped telecast of Channel 16 in Bangladesh as it has not taken renewed permission to air programs after expiration on Nov 30, 2013.
The information ministry stopped the broadcasting of the private channel from Tuesday afternoon.
Senior assistant secretary M Akhtaruzzaman Talukder of the ministry TV-2 section issued a letter in this regard and sent it to the Ministry for Home Affairs and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
The letter said the validity of the permission to broadcast the channel expired on November 30, 2013 which was not renewed further.
The authorities also requested to TV channel operators and other media to take proper step not to broadcast the Channel 16 run by Insight Telecast Company Limited or other company, the letter added.
