KUALA LUMPUR: Visiting Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a meeting with Malaysia’s influential former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Tuesday.
The Malaysian influential leader made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hasina at Hotel Grand Hayatt here in the evening and she invited him to visit to Bangladesh.
Earlier in the day, PM Hasina arrived here on a three-day official visit at the invitation of her Malaysian counterpart Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak.
PM Hasina, also ruling Awami League president, was accorded red carpet reception.
A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and members of her entourage landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Malaysian Deputy Minister of Human Resources Sri Haji Ismail Haji Abdul Muttalib and Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia AKM Atiqur Rahman received the Prime Minister at the airport.
After arrival at the airport, the Prime Minister was given a static guard of honour by the Malaysian armed forces.
Later, she was taken to Hotel Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur through a ceremonial motorcade where she will be staying during the visit.
Earlier, the Prime Minister left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 10:15am for Kuala Lumpur.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hussain Bhuiyan, the chiefs of the three services, the dean of the diplomatic corps and high civil and military officials were present at the airport to see her off.
