MALAYSIA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reiterated that she is ready to make highest sacrifice for the greater interest of the country and its people.
In this regard she firmly mentioned that any kind of attacks including grenade attacks could never refrain her from serving the people of the country.
The Prime Minister was addressing a reception accorded to her by the expatriate Bangladeshis living in Malaysia organized at Hotel Grand Hyat in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday Evening local time.
Sheikh Hasina said, it can not be that the defeated forces will play ducks and drakes with the fate of the people as the nation established the country through huge bloodshed and 24 year long struggle led by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The Prime Minister said, the aim of her government is to make welfare of the general people as the nation got independence, national flag and dignity of an independent nation.
She said, the party that leads a nation in the war of independence can advance it towards development and prosperity.
Terming Malaysia as an example in this regard, the Prime Minister said, Awami Leagie led government has also ensured development and now trying to take the nation ahead.
In this connection, Sheikh Hasina accused anti-liberation forces who captured the state power after brutal assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975.
They violated the constitution, destroyed the spirit of the war of liberation and distorted history of country’s war of independence, she said.
Coming to power after 21 years, the Awami League led government again undertook massive development programmes, brought the spirit of the war of independence to right track, she added.
The Prime Minister said, the country was going backwards due to misrule of the BNP-Jamat government after it came to power in 2001.
Sheikh Hasina said, assuming the office again in 2009, her government took steps in turning the country towards development and progress as well as established the spirit of the war of liberation.
Referring to 5th January election, the Prime Minister said, BNP-Jamat tried to foil the election and followed the path of destruction, killing, setting fire on buses, trains and vehicles.
She mentioned that the BNP leader wants to go backwards like ghost the legs of which always make backward steps.
But, the people gave their mandate in favor of her party to protect democracy and continue the trend of development for future developed and prosperous Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina also described massive development programmes implemented during the time in various sectors including health, education, infrastructure and ICT sectors.
Talking about legalization of illegal Bangladeshi workers , the Prime Minister said, Malaysia legalized about 2 lakh 67 thousand illegal Bangladeshi workers due to the steps of her government while Saudi Arabia validated nearly 6 lakh Bangladeshis working in the Kingdom.
She said, her government has been providing the people with proper training so that they can find jobs at home and abroad.
Stressing the need for learning languages as well as rules and regulations of the respective countries, Sheikh Hasina said, it would help them working there.
She also urged the expatriate Bangladeshis to work in a way so that the image of the country is brightened abroad.
With Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysuia AKM Atiqur Rahman in the chair, the function was also addressed by Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment affairs Minister Engineer Khondaker Mosharraf Hossain while Civil Aviation and Tourism Affairs Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor were present.
