UP chairman remanded in Jessore

JESSORE: A Jessore court on Thursday placed Paritash Biswas, chairman of Sundali union Parisad, on one-day remand in a case of killing freedom fighter Mollah Oliar Rahman, councilor of Nawapara municipality in the district.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Milton Hossain passed the remand order as IO of the case Sub-Inspector Abul Khayer of district Detective Branch (DB) of police produced Paritash before the court with a five-day remand plea.

Inspector of Jessore Court Police Rezaul Karim confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The case statement said, on December 2 (Tuesday), one accused of Oliar Rahman murder case Shisir Mandal, hailed from Shamserpur village of Abhaynagar upazila, gave confessional statement.

On November 23, miscreants shot Oliar Rahman while he went out for a morning walk around 7:00am.

Local people rushed him to Abhaynagar Health Complex, from where he was shifted Khulna Medical College and Hospital.

But, Oliar Rahman succumbed to his injuries on way to KMCH.

On November 24, deceased’s wife Nurjahan Begum filed a case with Abhaynagar Thana.
