SIRAJGANJ: Rail communications of Dhaka snapped with north and south-western regions of the country as five bogies of Lalmoni Express derailed in Soydabad area on Sunday morning.
Sources in Sirajganj Government Railway Police (GRP) and Bangabandhu Bridge West Railway Station said five bogies including the engine of Ishwardi-bound Lalmoni Express veered off the tracks at around 8:15am.
The derailment on the only entry-rail line to Bangabandhu Bridge caused a halt to train movement to all districts of South-West and Northern regions.
District GRP Sub-Inspector Haidar Ali confirmed the matter to banglanews.
A rescue train from Ishwardi has already started for the spot while train movement may become normal after more 5 hours, Haidar said.
However, no causality reported as all passengers managed to get out of the train.
