DHAKA: State Minister for Public Administration Ministry Ismat Ara Sadik on Sunday said public officials who had meeting with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia would have to face disciplinary action for the violation of Government Servants' (Conduct) Rules.

She made the disclosure while talking to journalists at her secretariat office after a meeting.

Public Administration ministry senior secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury was also present at the meeting.

Earlier on Thursday, several public officials, serving as officers on special duty (OSD), held a meeting with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office allegedly aiming to boost up anti-government movement.

After the news spread, sensation created in the administration.

In response to a query of reporters that whether any action would be taken against the officials, she said, “We have come to know the matter through media.”

Ismat Ara added: “As per Government Servants' (Conduct) Rules, public officials and employees cannot hold meeting with any political person. The rules do not allow them to involve in politics.”

When asked about the formation of probe committee regarding the issue, Ismat Ara Sadik said that the matter is being scrutinized.
