DHAKA: The government has made a reshuffle in public administration, including the transfer of three secretaries, withdrawing deputy commissioners (DC) from five districts and appointing new DCs in six districts.

Separate orders were issued by public administration ministry to this effect on Sunday.

However, Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) rector Khandaker M Iftekhar Haider has been made expatriates' welfare and overseas employment secretary while this ministry’s former secretary Dr Khandaker Shawkat Hossain has been made director general (DG) of the National Academy for Planning and Development.

The former DG of National Academy for Planning and Development, AKM Abdul Awal Mazumder has been made BPATC rector.

Moreover, the government has appointed new deputy commissioners (DC) in six districts.
 
The districts are Khagrachari, Rangamati, Bandarban, Joypurhat, Khulna and Bagerhat.

According to the order, former Rangamati DC M Mustafa Kamal has been transferred to Khulna as DC while Economic Relations Division (ERD) deputy secretary M Shamsul Arefin has been made Rangamati DC.

On the other hand, religious affairs ministry deputy secretary M Jahangir Alam has been made Bagerhat DC while private secretary of state minister for finance M Mizanul Haque Chowdhury has been given posting as Bandarban DC, health and family welfare ministry deputy secretary M Abdur Rahim has been made Joypurhat DC and Dhaka’s diara settlement officer Muhammad Wahiduzzaman has been given posting as Khagrachari DC.

Earlier in the day, the government withdrew deputy commissioners of five districts.

Among them, Bandarban’s former DC KM Tariqul Islam has been shifted to disaster management and relief ministry, Khagrachari former DC M Masud Karim to expatriates' welfare and overseas employment ministry, Bagerhat former DC M Shukur Ali to environment and forest ministry and Joypurhat former DC Mohammad Yasin to liberation war affairs ministry.

Meanwhile, Khulna former DC Anis Mahmud has been transferred as deputy secretary to Economic Relations Division.

In a different notice, public administration ministry has posted Prime Minister’s Office deputy press secretary Bijon Lal Deb as first secretary to the permanent mission in the United Nations in New York.
