DHAKA: Three Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members were directly involved in gruesome Narayanganj seven-murder case.
The probe committee of RAB submitted the report saying that former commander Tarek Sayeed and two company commanders Arif Hossain and MM Rana of RAB-11 had a direct connection in the killing.
Additional attorney general Momtaz Uddin Fakir submitted the final report to the High Court (HC) bench consisting of Justice Mohammad Rezaul Haque and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore, on Wednesday.
Earlier, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Aftab Uddin (administration) submitted the probe report to the additional attorney general.
According to the report, the committee initially found that Tarek and Arif were involved in whole killing process, though, Rana was involved partially.
However, the RAB headquarters had no connection with the murder, the report added.
The RAB said in the report that they initially suspected that councilor Nur Hossain planned to kidnap another councilor Nazrul Islam and killed him.
On April 30, Narayanganj City Corporation Councilor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar and five others were found dead floating on river Shitalkkhya after 3-day of their abduction.
On May 5, the High Court (HC) bench, consisting of Justice Mohammad Rezaul Haque and Justice Gobindo Chandra Tagore, ordered to arrest the three RAB officers and submit a report investigating the alleged involvement of former and current RAB officers.
On May 8, RAB formed a four members committee led by DIG Aftab Uddin.
Three other members are commander Lieutenant Colonel Khandaker Golam Sarwar, Major Mohammad Sadik and SP Sazzad of RAB-10.
They submitted the report after seven months of investigation.
