DHAKA: Ferry services came to a halt at Mawa-Kawrakandi water ways on the River Padma since Wednesday night after eight ferries distracted from course due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
Banglanews Munshiganj Correspondent Kazi Dipu reported at around 8:00am that the trapped ferries remain anchored in the middle of the river.
Cold weather has been causing immense sufferings to the passengers at the anchored ferries.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) assistant manager Chandra Shekhar of Mawa office told banglanews that ferry services has been suspended at 9:00pm on Wednesday because of blurred visibility due to thick fog.
Ferry service will become normal after visibility returns, added the officer.
Banglanews Manikganj Correspondent Sujan Ahmed reports Daulatdia-Paturia water way ferry services resumed at 6:00am on Thursday.
BIWTC assistant manger of Daulatdia office confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Dense fog forced authorities to suspend the ferry services on the route on Wednesday night.
Huge tailback appeared on the both side of the river at the both routes.
