JESSORE: The students of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) have withdrawn the barricade on Jessore-Chougachha road on Friday following a road accident that killed a student of the university.

The students said they called off the blockade as the body of Abu Hanif, 25, student of JUST, was being taken to his home at Kumarjani village under Mirzapur upazila of Tangail district.

New programmes will be declared after the burial of Hanif, they added.

Assistant director of JUST’s Public relations division Hayetur Zaman Mukul confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Vice-Chancellor of the university Dr Abdus Sattar received the body from Jessore 250-bed Hospital and body handed over to their relatives without autopsy.

Earlier, the students blocked the Jessore-Chougachha road and torched the truck that rammed a human hauler, protesting the death of JUST student around 12:30pm.

The blockade halted plying of all types of vehicle on the road.

Huge number of law enforcers including riot police had been deployed to avert any untoward situation in the area.

Four people, including a JUST student, were killed and 10 others injured as a truck knocked a human hauler in Pultadanga area on Jessore-Chougachha road on Friday morning.
