Upazila chairman among 400 sued in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA: Law enforcers filed cases against about 400 people, including the chairman of Palashbari Upazila Parisad Nazrul Islam Lebu, also district Jamaat political secretary, on charge of attacking police and damaging vehicles in Palashbari upazila on Thursday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Palashbari Thana Majibur Rahman told banglanews that Sub-Inspector (SI) of the thana Balai Sarker filed the case in the afternoon.

The case was filed mentioning names of 80 persons including Upazila Parisad chairman Nazrul Islam Lebu and vice-chairman Abu Taleb Master and unnamed 300/400, he added.

Police, so far, have arrested 11 persons in this connection, he added.

Upazila unit of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir leaders and activists brought out a procession in protest of the execution of Jamaat leader Quader Mollah.

The Jamaat-Shibir men attacked police when they tried to obstruct to procession.
