KHULNA: Two “snatchers” died and two others were injured in a mob beating in Mokampur area under Terokhada upazila on Saturday.

One of the deceased was identified as Saku.

Officer-in-Charge of district detective police TM Rokonuzzaman said local rice trader Ashok Kormokar was going to Khulna with Tk 2.10 lakh by an auto-rickshaw.

At that time, six snatchers, riding on two motorcycles, obstructed the auto-rickshaw and snatched the money. Later on information over telephone, locals of Mokampur Bazar tried to stop the snatchers.

Then the snatchers started firing at the locals that left one injured. Later, angry mob caught and beat four them while two managed to flee the scene.

The injured snatchers were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where two of them succumbed to their injuries, OC added.
