DHAKA: Bangabandhu Sangskritic Jote staged a human-chain demonstration in the capital Friday to drum up their demand to different foreign countries for sending back the “fugitive killers of Bangabandhu” through Interpol intervention.

The cultural front leaders, from the human chain on the National Press Club premises, also announced their next course of action, including writing to the foreign missions in Dhaka for deporting the fugitives.

“The killers have to be returned to Bangladesh in order for building a terrorism-and crime-free world. If countries do so, it will be a role played in helping establish justice,” speakers at the gathering said by one voice.

In the next step, the Jote will send memorandum to foreign embassies, stage human chain and hunger strike. But dates were not announced for staging the demos.

Organization’s general secretary Tarana Halim MP urged the heads of state and government of the countries concerned to hand over the killers of Bangabandhu to Bangladesh government.

“It has to be proved that they want terrorism-free world by sending back the killers of Bangabandhu to Bangladesh,” the actress-turned-lawmaker told the meet.

Tarana Halim also demanded immediate arrest of war criminals of all levels. “All the war criminals who are moving freely yet, including BNP leader Salahuddin Qader Chowdhury, have to be arrested forthwith,” she said.

She also demanded arrest of BNP leaders Shah Moazzem Hossain and Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mian who gave ‘death threat’ to the prime minister through their speeches.

Jote vice-president film-actor Faruq also urged foreign heads of government and states to return the assailants.

Joint General Secretary of the Jote Arun Sarker Rana, City Awami League Publicity Secretary Abdul Haq Sabuj and Convener of Dhaka city unit of the Jote Khursed Alam Khasru, among others, spoke at the human-chain gathering.
