3 held with 30 gold bars in Dhamrai

DHAMRAI, DHAKA:  Police detained three people with 30 gold bars, weighing 3.5 kilograms, from a passenger bus on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Kelia area of the upazila on Tuesday.

The detainees are Sekender Ali, son of Anwar Hossain, and Enamur Rahman, son of Maznu Mian, of Uthili village of Maninkganj district and Hasibur Rahman, son of Fazlur Rahman of Shoilshara area of Chuadanga district.
 
Dhamrai Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Firoz Talukdar confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Firoz said, tipped-off, a team of police led-by Dhaka district (north) additional superintendent of police Ashraful Azim set up a check post on the highway in the area.

Police intercepted a long-route bus of Chitra Paribahan there, nabbed the three men and seized 30 gold bars, weighing 3.5 kilograms, he added.

During preliminary interrogation, the detainees admitted that the gold came from abroad through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and they were going to Chuadnga to sell those to one Ainal Haque.
