DHAKA: Bangladesh Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal observes the ‘Victory Day’ on 16th December with due respect and festivity.
The authorities organized a day-long program on Tuesday which began with hoisting of the national flag at the Chancery by State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam in the morning.
This was followed by reading out of the Victory Day messages of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister.
State Minister gave a short inspirational speech to uphold the spirit of the victory achieved on 16th December 1971 and various facets of Nepat Bangladesh relations emphasizing on linguistic, cultural, education and trade relations.
At the end, a ‘Doa Mahfil’ was arranged where all present prayed for the eternal peace of the souls of martyrs and all the lives we lost during the war of independence in 1971.
The morning’s program was attended by Ambassador, Mission and SAARC secretariat officials, staff members and the expatriate Bangladesh community living in Kathmandu.
The Mission also organized a Cultural Program in Nach Ghar Auditorium in the evening which was attended by Ministers, Members of Parliament, Political Leaders of different parties, Diplomats, Government Officials, officials of the Mission and SAARC secretariat, expatriate Bangladeshis, members of the Nepalese civil society and the media.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs was the Chief guest on the occasion. The program began with the lightening the lamp by Special guest Kusumb Bastola, spouse of Former Foreign Minister and “Friends of Bangladesh” Chakra Prasad Bastola.
In the cultural event, Srishti Cultural lnstitute led by eminent dance artist Anisul lslam Hero, Mehebob Chadni and their team performed seven dances with patriotic songs. Poetry recitation was also performed.
