DHAKA: Immediately after he had been rescued, the trapped four-year-old Jihad was declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday afternoon.
The on duty doctor of DMCH surgeon Riaz Morshed declared Jihad dead around 3:45pm.
The boy, trapped into a several-hundred-feet hole of an abandoned deep tubewell at Dhaka's Shahjahanpur, was rescued after 23 hours frantic effort.
When many left the hope of rescuing the boy then three local pump cleaners of a private company--- Rahmat, Abdullah Al Mamun and Sujan Das rescued the kid at 3pm by their brave effort.
He was rescued moments after Fire Services and Civil Defense Director General (DG) Ali Ahmed Khan declared their operation postponed at 2:30pm.
Jihad fell inside the 17-inch diameter shaft, around 40 yards from his house in Shahjahanpur, around 4:30pm Friday while playing with other children.
