Ban on open gatherings on 31st

DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will allowed none to hold gatherings in an open place on 31st night as a part of the security measures to avert untoward incidents.

DMP Commissioner Benazir Ahmed imposed the ban on Tuesday noon at a press briefing at DMP Media Centre in city.

Benazir Ahmed said that no gathering will be allowed on roads, intersections and flyovers and likewise no program can be held under the open sky for maintaining law and order and ensuring security.

The DMP boss, however, requested the residents of Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara along with Dhaka University (DU) area, to return their homes before 8:00pm on that day.

He also urged the non-residents of the areas not to enter there after 8:00pm.

Benazir Ahmed, moreover, called upon all not to enter the Hatirjhil area after 8:00pm saying that youths are also requested to refrain from opening fireworks, exploding crackers, reckless driving, misbehavior with others and illegal activities.

The commissioner, at that time, also hoped that all the city dwellers will help police to maintain law and order.

Additional Commissioners Abdul Jalil, Barrister Mahbub Hossain, Mili Biswas, Maruf Hasan, Ibrahim Fatemi and all the deputy commissioners of detective branch of police were also present at the press briefing.
