CHITTAGONG: A student allegedly committed suicide in Charlakkhya Votebazar area under Karnaphuli Thana of the port city on Tuesday afternoon as she could not pass in the JSC examination.

The deceased was identified as Saima Akter, 13, daughter of Peyar Ahmed of the area.

Police sources said that the girl took poison after JSC result published on Tuesday as she could not succeed in the examination.

However, she was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in a critical condition around 4:00pm where on-duty doctor declared her dead.

CMCH police outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector Pankaj Barua confirmed the matter to banglanews.
