DHAKA: An unidentified trader was run over by a truck in Karwan Bazar area of the city early Wednesday.

Tejgaon Thana Sub-Inspector Khokon Chandra confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Quoting witnesses, the SI said that the accident took place when a truck rammed a vegetable-loaded van in front of Janata Tower in the area, leaving the trader critically injured.

The injured was whisked off to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The body has been kept at hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police seized the truck and nabbed its driver.
