DHAKA: Former chief justice Mostofa Kamal, 81, passed away at his city resident in Gulshan area suffering a cardiac attack at 3:00am Monday.
He left three daughters, grand children and huge well-wishers to mourn his death.
Mostofa Kamal’s daughter Dr Nashid Kamal said the first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Supreme Court premises on Monday noon.
The former chief justice will be laid at Azimpur graveyard after the second Namaz-e-Janaza in Gulshan’s Azad Mosque around 2:00pm.
Mostofa Kamal was born on May 9 in 1933 in a dignified family in Rangpur. His father was famous singer Abbas Uddin Ahmed.
Mostofa Kamal was a brother of famous singer Ferdausi Rahman and Mustafa Jaman Abbasi.
National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam gave his name Mostofa Kamal.
He completed his Barrister course from Linkoln’s Inn of England in 1979.
He served as chief justice of Bangladesh from June to December in 1999.
